Mahon is the capital of Menorca and steeped in culture and history and said to be the birth place of mayonnaise. Mahon has one of the world’s largest natural harbours. It is around 3 miles long and due to this was a focal point of many wars. On some of the surrounding islands there are ruins from conquering nations such as the British hospital which can be visited, and the current Spanish naval dockyard is located on the site of the old British dockyard from the 18th century.

Menorca like all Balearic Islands has many golden sandy beaches, however unlike the other destinations the beaches on Menorca are surprisingly empty. This does not mean that the beaches don’t cater to the traveller and there are plenty of amenities, café and bar’s as well as water sports centres on offer. The water sports centre caters for novices and the experienced and many different activities can be enjoyed from jet skis, water skiing, parasailing, small boat hire, snorkelling and scuba diving.
There is plenty of opportunity to get away from the beaten track and find a secluded beach where you can set up and watch the day drift along whilst enjoying the sun.
In the evenings why not experience Mahon, its culture, food and drink whilst chatting with the locals and just relaxing.
