Lanzarote has with all the Canary Islands has a yearly warm climate. The coolest winter month has an average temperature of around 14ºC. During the warmer summer months, the warmest months average is around 29ºC. The traveller can expect during the summer months for the temperatures to exceed the averages and quite often the temperature can reach into the high 30’sºC or very low 40’sºC. The water temperatures average during the coolest month is around 18ºC and during the warmest month it averages around 23ºC.
Lanzarote has a record breaking volcanic tunnel. During the 18th and 19th century Lanzarote was volcanically active and created the 7km long Volcanic Tunnel which is the longest in the world. It has also left some breath-taking scenery which you could easily picture being from outer space. It is quite amazing to see the local plant life starting to take back some of the old lava flows. There are several guided tours that can be taken through the volcanic landscape.
If you prefer something quieter and more relaxed, then why not sun bathe on one of the many beaches around Lanzarote. There are plenty of golden sanded beaches and there are also black sanded beaches. The more popular beaches are very well catered for with great amenities and high levels of cleanliness. These more populated beaches also offer a wide variety of water sport activities for the traveller to try first time or return to. Most well-appointed water sports centres will offer a selection of snorkelling, windsurfing, kayak, small boat hire, rides on inflatables, paddle boarding and organised tours like deep sea fishing tours or just tour around the island on a sail boat. One of the main water sports attractions for any of the Canary Islands is scuba diving and Lanzarote is no exception. There are many PADI approved schools around Lanzarote and if you’re a beginner or seasoned diver they cater for all and offer dives for all levels of experience.
Then in the evening experience the nightlife in the café, bars and restaurants culture, experience local produce cooked in local fashions before sampling some of the local drinks. If the traveller wants cuisines from around the world they are also catered for throughout Lanzarote.
