Girona is a city in the Catalan state of Spain and has a lovely Mediterranean climate and feel. The temperatures during the warmer summer months average around 30°C and during the winter months the average temperature for the coolest month drops to around 1°C.

The old city of Girona is accessed by crossing the river Onyar over many of the stone bridges however one bridge stands out in its industrial beauty, that being the Eiffel bridge which was built in 1876 by the creator of the Eiffel tower.

One of the main focal points for all tourists is the cathedral of Santa Maria, it is situated at the top of a spectacular set of stairs. The cathedral was started in the 11th century and finally finished in the 18th century. As with any structure built over so many different periods you can see examples of Baroque, Romanesque and gothic architecture in the cathedral. It is one of the most important architectural monuments of Jaume Babre.

Less than an hour outside of Girona is the town of Figueres which is the home town of Salvador Dali and is home to the Dali Theatre Museum. Any fan of surrealist paintings or anyone curious as to what made Dali stand out from the crowd will not be left wanting after a visit to the museum in all its grandeur.

The city of Girona is nearly yearly voted by the Spanish people as the best city to live in in Spain and this reflects in its relaxed and vibrant atmosphere throughout the city. The pride the local show in the city and its history and how it is still at the fore front of cultural endeavors, no place reflects this more than El Celler de Can Roca which was once the best restaurant in the world but now in the top three. The restaurant is run and owned by the famous Roca brothers and their creative and imaginary way to serve Michelin star quality food is legendary.
