Like most Greek resorts surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea the weather is warm throughout most of the year and especially in the summer months. In the winter months, the average temperature for the coolest month is around 10ºC. In the warmest summer month, the average temperature is around 31ºC, however the temperature can soar into the low 40’sºC. The water temperature during the warmest summer month is around 26ºC. This makes laying down and sun bathing and then cooling off in the Mediterranean Sea the perfect choice for a lot of travellers with the numerous beaches on Corfu.

Then when the sun goes down head to the many restaurants, bars and cafes where you can sample a Greek Meze and try the local selection of drinks on offer.
Corfu is however more than a beach holiday destination and offer a lot of cultural sites to visit. Possibly one of the main attractions is the Archaeological Museum which houses the Gorgon Pediment from the Artemis temple in the Ancient city Korkyra. It was famously quoted in The New York times as being the “finest example of archaic temple sculpture extant.” It is surely a must whilst visiting the museum and its key feature. There are Numerous other museums around Corfu to visit due to its amazing Greek history and a museum to note is the Museum of Asian art of Corfu. This museum houses a collection of works showing the influence of Alexander the Great on Buddhist culture.
One of the most striking buildings in Corfu is The Old Fortress. This fortress sits overlooking Corfu and the Mediterranean Sea. It was built in the 15th century by the Venetians to protect the town from pirates and other enemies.
