Bournemouth Airport tops UK punctuality table during holiday getaway

Bournemouth Airport has been ranked as the UK’s most punctual airport in the latest Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) statistics, with almost nine out of ten flights operating on time during the busy Easter holiday period.

The figures for April, the latest available, show that 88.8% of flights arrived or departed within 15 minutes of their scheduled time, placing Bournemouth Airport at the top of the national league table for punctuality.

The CAA data covers all passenger arrivals and departures during the month, representing a total of 809 passenger aircraft movements.

The strong operational performance came as passenger numbers continued to grow, with 113,323 terminal passengers travelling through Bournemouth Airport in April – a 7% increase on the same month last year (105,482).

It is the second time Bournemouth Airport has topped the UK’s punctuality rankings this year, having also achieved the number one position in January.

Steve Gill, Managing Director of Bournemouth Airport, said: “Being named the UK’s most punctual airport during one of the busiest travel periods of the year is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work and commitment of everyone across the airport community. “Passengers rightly expect a reliable and stress-free experience when they travel, and these results demonstrate our focus on operational excellence and customer service. As passenger numbers continue to grow, maintaining those high standards remains a key priority.”

The latest figures build on a record-breaking year for Bournemouth Airport, which recently reported its highest-ever annual passenger numbers, with almost 1.4 million passengers travelling through the airport in the year to April 2026.

The airport has invested significantly in new facilities to support its continued growth and improve the passenger experience. A £17 million investment programme has delivered a brand-new immigration and arrivals hall, an expanded main car park with more than 800 additional spaces, a new outbound baggage facility and an enlarged baggage reclaim hall with larger carousels.

Passengers are also benefiting from the recently opened Bourne & Acre Bar and Kitchen.
Bournemouth Airport serves more than 40 destinations and employs around 450 staff during the peak summer season. It is part of leading UK regional airport operator Regional & City Airports and contributes around £200 million to the local economy each year.
