Dublin is an amazing city and offers the traveller milder temperatures through the year, with winters average of 4ºC and summers around 20ºC. Dublin also receives 50% less rain than the west coast of Ireland due to its sheltered location.

Dublin is rich in culture and can boast a settlement documented in the area from as far back as 140AD however it wasn’t until the Vikings settled in the 10th century that Dublin was formally established and as such the Dubliners celebrated their official Millennium in 1988.

Even though Dublin is a bustling city they are very proud of their hidden green parks and canals and Phoenix park is one of the largest parks in Europe and home to Dublin Zoo and houses the Wellington Testimonial Monument as a celebration of the Duke of Wellington who was born in Dublin, other tributes to the Duke can be found at Trinity College and the National Gallery.

Encircling the inner city of Dublin are the Grand and Royal canals and if the traveller chooses to walk along these there are some wonderful boats which serve up food to keep them going.

At the 17th century old Royal Hospital situated in Kilmainham is the Irish Museum of Modern Art which houses a large collection of contemporary art. Another museum worth a visit is the National Leprechaun Museum which explains the tales of the leprechauns and their pots of gold.

Dublin Castle which stands on the strategic junction of the river Liffey and the Poddle and the site of the castle gardens stands on what was once called the Black Pool ‘Dubh Linn’ and gives the name to the city.

Dublin offers many culinary experiences from Irish seafood through to Japanese, most are within easy walking distance of the city centre. For a shopping experience Dublin can compete with most Capital cities and has high brand names through to unique Celtic boutiques.
