Yellows fly high after landing airport bus contract

Yellow Buses is flying high after landing a major deal with the owners of Bournemouth Airport.

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) has awarded the Yellows the prestigious contract to run the A1 shuttle bus.

The hourly service runs from 7am to 7pm seven days a week. It will link Bournemouth Airport and the Business Park with Bournemouth Town Centre and main hubs within the Yellows' network, including the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Derek Lott, Yellow Buses' Managing Director, said: "We're delighted to be awarded this contract by MAG.

"We believe there is great potential to grow the service and will be working closely with the airport to increase the number of bus passengers travelling to and from the airport and business park."

Paul Knight, Managing Director of Bournemouth Airport, said: “We welcome Yellow Buses to the site and look forward to them providing beneficial services to the staff who are based at the airport, and on the Business Park, but also for the passengers who want to use our airport and travel here using public transport. We look forward to a strong partnership between Bournemouth Airport and Yellow Buses.”

Yellow Buses will be running a dedicated high quality single-decker on the service, initially using its eye-catching Jubilee liveried bus. The bus which features leather seats and wood effect floors became a popular attraction on the roads during last year's Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The MAG contract is for a minimum of three years. MAG is the country’s largest UK-owned airport operator with its four airports - Stansted, Bournemouth, East Midlands and Manchester – serving around 42 million passengers every year. Bournemouth serves around 690,000 passengers and 36 destinations annually.
