Airport viewing area now open

Responding to requests from local aircraft enthusiasts and visitors to the airport, Bournemouth Airport has opened an official viewing area.

The new viewing area offers unrivalled views of the eastern end of the runway and provides visitors with a safe environment in which to enjoy their visit. As well as providing ample car parking, there is also a small picnic area to help families make the most of their visit to the airport.

Commenting on this new viewing area, Rob Goldsmith, Managing Director of Bournemouth Airport said: “Due to the current economic climate we have seen a drop in demand for additional car park spaces, so it was an ideal opportunity to give our visitors the viewing area they have been asking for. We have a wide range of aircraft using the airport – from small two seaters through to commercial jets – so there is always something going on and I’m confident that it will prove popular.”

The airport viewing area is open every day and the entry fee for a car (including driver and all passengers) costs just £4. Pedestrians can access the viewing area for free. To get to the viewing area, take the road past the terminal building and follow the signs.

Please note:

  • Dogs are not allowed in the viewing area, with the exception of guide dogs
  • Ball games, frisbees and kites are not permitted in the viewing area
  • Visitors are asked not to feed the birds as they are a hazard to aircraft
  • If paying for the car park by credit card, a £1.50 processing fee will be added to the charge
