Bournemouth Airport upgrades its Aircraft Tracking System
Bournemouth Airport’s on-line aircraft tracking system – WebTrak - has recently been upgraded to provide clearer, and more detailed, information about flight movements in the area.
“Bournemouth was the first regional airport in the south to provide members of the public with a quick and easy way to follow the aircraft flying in and out of the airport,” explains Rob Goldsmith, Managing Director of Bournemouth Airport. “Thousands of people have used WebTrak since its launch in 2008 and this upgrade will now make it even easier to use.”
The upgraded system makes it much easier to identify the different types of aircraft flying in and out of Bournemouth, and also shows those which are flying over the region en-route to other airports. The area that WebTrak covers has been extended and now shows flights operating to and from Southampton. The maps are also much clearer and users can choose between a street map, an aerial view or a combination of both.
Notes to editors:
Flight information on WebTrak uses data sourced from Bournemouth Airport’s radar and is displayed 24 hours in arrears to maintain aviation security.
The data included in WebTrak has been processed for public display and the information is not for any other purpose including navigational purposes or airline scheduled information.
