Passenger Numbers On the Rise At Airport
Figures released today by Bournemouth Airport show Summer 2007 to the busiest summer on record with passenger figures exceeding 100,000 over three consecutive months.
During the months of June, July and August over 100,000 passengers a month passed through the doors of Bournemouth Airport. June was the first month ever to exceed the 100,000 mark with a 12% increase on passenger figures in 2006. Passenger numbers continued to grow in July (19%) and August (24%) compared to 2006. Over the three month period the airport handled a total of 338,870 passengers.
The Airport’s top five destinations during the summer months were Palma, closely followed by Girona, and Prestwick. Popular destinations, Dublin and Malaga featured in 4th and 5th place.
A breakdown of the overall increase in passenger figures for June to August compared to the same period in 2006 is detailed below:

The Airport is now looking forward to yet another a busy season with new routes including Alicante and Bergamo with Ryanair, new Polish destinations Katowice and Gdansk with Wizz Air and easyJet’s two new winter destinations, Krakow and Grenoble. The Airport’s winter charter programme is also developing with the introduction of Tunisia and Fuerteventura with Palmair this winter.
